We dined as a party of four on the 'Xmas menu' and the experience was delightful from start to finish. A lovely, welcoming atmosphere, all of the waiters were very sociable and efficient in every way. The choice of dishes was more than adequate and we all were impressed by the quality and presentation of everything we ate. At the end of a very enjoyable and relaxing evening the Chef/Director paid a visit to our table, obviously for feedback and marketing purposes but this was done in a polite, brief and non-obtrusive manner and in fact it was nice to have the opportunity to praise his skills and those of his staff. If you happen to be in the area, do take the opportunity to experience Lock 57. If you're not in the area, make a special trip - it'll be worth it.

We had our work Christmas meal at Lock 57 on 9th December 2011. It was fantastic. Very stylish tasty food served by great staff. The three course meal price was very good value. We will be back.

Myself and a party of 5 others had our Christmas meal at Lock 57 last Friday evening - 9th December. The food, service and surroundings were absolutely perfect and it was excellent value - thank you all for making our Christmas meal so special.

Had really great meal tonight with friends. Would really recommend going, great home cooked food. Good choice of dishes, good value for money.

Great food, freshly cooked and served hot, just as I have come to expect. Was looking forward to the bread & butter pudding (sold out) but the sticky toffee was equally as nice. Staff are polite and attentive. Will definitely be back.

We ate at the restaurant last night 12 feb 2011 with some friends the food was excellent we all commented on how well it was presented and it all tasted delicious no complaint at all and what a very plesant surprise when the bill arrived. We will definitely be returning.

We booked as a party of 37 in Spring 2010 and were served an excellent three course meal by pleasant and friendly staff, in pleasant surroundings with room to mingle and chat prior to the meal. Would definitely recommend the restaurant.

We took time out from walking the dog. To have a pot of tea and some breakfast. Lovely , quality food reasonable prices . Wonderful big pot of tea. Butter not marg lovely marmalade fantastic bangers. Well done to you and the staff . See you soon.

We have visited Lock 57 a few times, enjoyed the fabulous breakfast and been with friends for an excellent evening meal. Great value, yummy food and lovely team. Will be back.

I can honestly say, the food in this restaurant is on a par with any of the expensive restaurants in Cheshire. This was our 3rd visit,and the food is wonderful, freshly cooked, with a good 'pause' in between courses. I cannot think of another establishment that offers such quality for this price. Keep up the good work!

Dined tonight with my daughter and her grandparents who live in Guernsey, they are used to excellent food, the restaurants in Guernsey are fabulous. Comment from "Grandpa" - Best piece of meat he has ever tasted.

Fabulous food. Love the fact that everything is home made. Grandma loved the home made ice cream.
My daughter always has the lamb shank and the chocolate fondant-dont ever take these off the menu!!! I like to try something different. Best starter I ever had was the seared tuna. It was cooked to perfection.

Our first visit to Lock 57 was a few months ago and we loved it, the food was supurb. This time we called in on a lovely sunny afternoon for a quick sandwich for lunch. Sitting outside next to the canal I had the nicest beef sandwich i've ever had. I couldnt recommend this place highly enough. Excellent.

I went to Lock 57 for something to eat with my girlfriend and two friends. I must say that the service was excellent, never intruding and just leaving us to enjoy our food, but never too far away when we needed some more drinks. The food was amazing, kept really simple and served very rustic which just highlighted the flavours even more!!! My lamb shank was to die for and my girlfriends fillet steak was beautifull! Three courses for £17 was a BARGAIN. a definate recommendation!!!

Most recent visit was dinner (evening) for four. Excellent food - very nicely presented but still a good portion size. The lamb shank was superb and the puddings went down a treat. Clean plates all round.

Spot on service. Staff were attentive without being fussy or hovering.

We've also been for breakfast and afternoon tea. It's well worth the effort to find.

I can honestly say one of the best establishments I have been in for a long time.
Service Excellent, well mannered, know their menu, and very tentative without getting in your face.
Food, fresh and cooked to perfection as the menu suggests.
Surroundings a simple and relaxing tone to enjoy yourself without feeling rushed.
Price- its a world beater for the quality and service- absolutely spot on.

Our first attempt to dine at Lock 57 was blighted by its own success (or, more accurately, by our own incompetence) for, upon encountering this delightful Bistro during a circumnavigation of the Cheshire Ring canal network in early July we rather naively expected just to turn up and be fed. However, being a popular place, and it being a beautiful saturday in July, Lock 57 was full of diners enjoying an evening away from the World Cup. Rather than say 'yes' to our booking therefore overburdening an already busy chef, the proprietors quite sensibly, and very apologetically, turned us away. Later on in the week we were a little more prepared and decided to take advantage of the excellent cooked breakfasts. Arriving well before the published opening times we were welcomed and within moments were brought tea and cafe latte, followed soon after by a beautifully presented 'full english' which, cooked as it was by grill, suffered none of the evil oiliness often associated with such fare, but filled up our hungry canal navigators just nicely. Those among the party requiring a lighter meal opted for salmon and scrambled egg on toast, which met with favourable reports about the flavour of the fish and fine texture of the egg. Fresh fruit juice followed to complete the picture. Apart from the fine, well-sourced and beautuifully presented food, what really made our stop at Lock 57 special was the welcome we received from the attentive yet unsmothering waiting staff who took our order efficiently and brought our breakfast to the table with care and politeness. I look forward to sampling the evening menu from Lock 57 very soon, but this time will take care to book early
